Stronger Together
As our second annual Rogue Rally comes to a close, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be involved in the community. When I started at Rogue, we were serving 100,000 members. Since then, membership has doubled! In that time, we added branches in the Klamath Basin and Treasure Valley, opened a Campus Branch at Umpqua Community College and more. And while the size and scale of our community has changed, our values have not. We’ve never forgotten who we are: Your credit union. Your friends. Your neighbors.
Rogue Rally is special to me because of the positive difference we make in our local communities. We know that from Roseburg to Medford to Brookings and Payette, locals know our communities best. So, in the spirit of living, giving and supporting local, team members are invited every year to coordinate service events that meet a real need in their community. Often focused on youth, families and education, team members volunteer in support of the programs and causes that matter to them. Simply put, we all volunteer where our community needs us.
It’s no small feat! This year, 650 team members volunteered over 1,200 hours in service of over 33 organizations. I volunteered at the ACCESS Food Bank with our Business Services team. One in three residents in Jackson County, my home county, is served by ACCESS, and our team had a great time preparing pallets of food for distribution to local families in need. Here’s just a few of the other organizations our teams supported:
Rogue Valley: Avenue of the Flags and Maslow Project
South Coast: Battle Rock & Hubbard Creek Beach Clean Up
Klamath Basin: Bonanza Days Children’s Carnival
Umpqua Valley: Umpqua Valley BMX
Treasure Valley: City of Ontario and Giggles & Grace
Rogue Rally is all about giving back to the community–It’s one of the ways we honor our longstanding values today. Rogue Credit Union was founded on the belief that we’re stronger together, and when I see the impact of our volunteer service, I’m reminded of that. See you next year!
